Rating delivered power is highly application dependent and therefore can be misleading. For example, the135WinternaldissipationratingofthePA13couldbeex- pressedasanoutputratingof260Wforaudio(sinewave)or as440WifusingasingleendedDCload.Pleasenotethatall vendorsratemaximumpowerusinganinfiniteheatsink. THERMAL STABILITY Apex Precision Power has eliminated the tendency of class A/B output stages toward thermal runaway and thus has vastlyincreasedamplifierreliability.Thisfeature,notfoundin most other Power OpAmps, was pioneered byApex Preci- sionPowerin1981usingthermistorswhichassureanegative temperaturecoefficientinthequiescentcurrent.Thereliability benefitsofthisaddedcircuitryfaroutweightheslightincrease incomponentcount.
