needs to be greater than the IPEAK that shown in the
Figure-1. Where, the IPEAK is the peak current of the
L1.
Compensation
The dominate pole compensation can satisfy the
loop stability of LED driving circuit by use the
GR6004. Locate a capacitor in the COMP could
reach this goal. The compensation capacitance
range is from 1nF to 100nF. This compensation
manner was applied in the normal LED application
with a constant driving current.
PWM Dimming
The PWM dimming function can implement by
adding a pull low switch in the COMP pin. Please
refer the application circuit of Figure-4 to operate in
this function.
Over-current Protection
The GR6004 has over-current protection to limit the
maximum current by restricting the peak value of
inductor current.
Over-temperature Protection
The GR6004 provides an over-temperature
protection function to prevent the system damage.
In the higher ambient temperature situation, the
large power dissipation on the GR6004 could trip
the OTP to turn the GR6004 off. The GR6004 can
operate from stop state when the junction
temperature of the GR6004 drops approximately
50
℃.
PCB Layout Consideration
Figure-2 shows the PCB layout considerations of
GR6004. These guidelines detailed below.
(1) Locate the CIN, D5, L1, CO and RS closely each
other to reduce the current loop of on period
and off period.
(2) Locate the CIN close to GR6004 as possible.
(3) Locate the D5 and L1 to GR6004 as close as
possible.
(4) Locate the C3 to GR6004 as close as possible.
