Quick Start

Required Equipment

● MAX5216LPTEVkit

● TheEVkitboardisaplug-n-playdevicethatconnects

tothePCthroughaUSB-AtoMini-Bcable.

● TheEVkitispreloadedwiththedefaultfirmwarethat

communicates with the MAX5216LPT evaluation soft-

ware. Software can be installed and run on Windows

XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7-based systems.

Note: In the following sections, software-related items are

identified by bolding. Text in

bold refers to items directly

from the EV kit software. Text in

bold and underlined

refers to items from the Windows operating system.

Procedure

TheEVkitisfullyassembledandtested.Followthesteps

belowtoverifyboardoperation:

1) Visit

www.maximintegrated.com/design/tools/

applications/evkit-software/ to download the latest

version of the EV kit software, MAX5216LPTGUIVxx.

ZIP. Unzip the file and run the setup.exe. Follow

the instructions to install the evaluation software on

your PC. The program files are copied and icons are

created in the Windows

Start | Programs menu.

2) ConnecttheMAX5216LPTtothePCthoughaUSBcable.

No additional driver is needed; Windows recognizes

the new device as a human interface device (HID) and

automatically finds and installs the appropriate driver for

it.Formoreinformation,checkthedevicepropertiesin:

Device Manager\Human Interface Control\USB Input

Device\Properties - > USB\VID_0B6A&PID_1234.

3) Run the MAX5216LPT.exe program. The application’s

GUIappears,asshowninFigure2.
